Smartphone Photography

With the evolution of digital photography, current smartphones have quality built-in cameras that allow us to take images of anything, anywhere! Aside from the point-and-shoot basics, there are features, formats, and techniques we can employ to best capture quality still images and videos. From composition and lighting tips to employing helpful camera editing features and apps, this course will have students actively making photos and videos - all on their smartphones. This 6-week course will cover content that will aid amateurs to aspiring digital marketers on their photo journeys.
What You Will Learn:
• Utilize their smartphone camera and editing apps to create quality images.
• Apply lighting fundamentals to create accurate exposures and images with intentional mood.
• Compose more communicative images that express visual narratives (both single and series)
• Capture video clips (both main and Broll footage)
• Edit videos by trimming and combining clips, and adding music and titles to create short videos.

Ellyn Norris teaches Photo I: Aperture, Shutter Speed, & ISO , Photo II: Technique & Style , Destination Photography , and Understanding Photographic Light: Studio & Location for the Photography: Images and Techniques certificate program. Ellyn has balanced being a photo educator and fine art/freelance commercial photographer for the past 25 years. She teaches photography in person and online for the Art Institute in San Diego and in Pittsburgh. She has exhibited her work both locally and in Canada. Her dedication to her own photographic work inspires her to share her passion with photo enthusiasts.
