Technical Documentation
Technical communicators work in every field, from finance to pharmaceuticals. They draw upon their skills in communication and their knowledge of science or technology to ensure messages to their intended audience are easily understood. This program provides an individual with foundational concepts and skills to allow them to produce effective work products for an employer and to assist in designing ways to present complex concepts to technical or general audiences.
The program consists of four online classes and may be completed in one year. UCSD students receive a substantial discount through Extension's Complimentary Enrollment Program.
NOTE: Preparatory courses are taken at the discretion of the student. Fees for those classes are the student's responsibility. |
Program Information
Preparatory Knowledge
Students in this program will be expected to write extensively; students with good writing skills will perform better in the classes. If a student needs to improve their writing proficiency, writing courses are offered through a variety of online providers and local colleges. At UCSD, WCWP 10A, or its equivalent in other colleges, would be appropriate preparation for this program.
