Who should take this course?

This program is for students who plan to enter an American university, and for professionals who want to improve their writing skills for their career. There is a strong emphasis on English fluency and academic skill development in this program. Students who have advanced English proficiency have more elective choices. All levels of English proficiency (ELI core levels 99-110) may take this program. Student's English proficiency is determined during the first week of the program (week 0).

  • January 6 - March 21
  • March 31 - June 13
  • June 23 - September 5
  • September 22 - December 5

Program Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday

  • Classes are held between 8:30 - 4:30 PM

  • 11 weeks - 25 hours per week (first week is testing, orientation & registration)

  • Schedule varies depending on level and classes chosen

  • Advanced Reading for IELTS and TOEFL/TOEIC Preparation

  • Academic Vocabulary Development

  • Academic Listening and Notetaking

  • Business Writing

  • Conversation

  • Idioms and Slang

  • Vocabulary and Discussion through TV and Video

  • Advanced Grammar and Editing

  • University Research Skills

Note: Classes for Intensive Academic core level 99 and 100 will run depending on sufficient number of students enrolled at these levels. If there is an insufficient number of students at these levels, students will be transferred to the Communication and Culture program. Please also note that not all elective courses are offered in every quarter at every level.

Application Fee: $150 (nonrefundable)
