Refund & Cancellation Policies

Refund Schedules and Withdrawal Policies

All application, testing, international student service, insurance, and on-campus housing fees are non-refundable. Refunds are given through the mode of original payment. Agent-referred students receive refunds through the agent.

 

All programs lasting 10 weeks or more
Prior to 1st day of program (published start-date in brochure) Full refund of tuition (minus $500 USD for the Business Certificate programs)
1st day of program through end of first week of classes (3:00pm Friday) 50% of tuition minus a $500 withdrawal fee
Week 2 of program classes and later No refunds
Program Change/Refunds/Additional Payments for 10-week English language programs
Program Change Fee: All students who would like to change their program must see the program Academic Coordinator or Advisor for permission, and they must pay the $150 USD program change fee at the time of the program change.
1. Changes from any of the Intensive programs to the Communication and Culture program must be done by 3:00 p.m. Friday in the first week of classes and will only be allowed on a space-available basis. Preference will be given to pre-enrolled students. The $150 USD program change fee must be paid at the time of the change. There will be no refund for the difference in tuition.
2. Changes from the Communication and Culture program to any Intensive program must be done by Friday of week 1 by 3:00 p.m. and will only be allowed on a space-available basis. Preference will be given to pre-enrolled students. The additional tuition must be paid at the time of the change, plus the $150 USD program change fee.
3. There will be no program changes allowed after 3:00 p.m. on Friday of the first week of classes.
English Language Institute ESL programs and seminars, less than ten weeks

Program Change/Refunds/Additional Payments for English language programs and seminars, less than ten weeks
Program Change Fee: All students who would like to change their program must see the program Academic Coordinator or Advisor for permission, and they must pay the $150 USD program change fee at the time of the program change.
1. Changes from Conversation or Conversation Plus programs to Medical English, Business English, or Academic English programs must be done by 3:00 p.m. Friday in the first week of classes and any additional tuition must be paid at the time of the change, plus the $150 USD program change fee.
2. Changes from Medical English, Business English, or Academic English programs to Conversation Plus or Conversation programs must be done by 3:00 p.m. Friday in the first week of classes and the $150 USD program change fee must be paid at the time of the change. There will be no refund for the difference in tuition.
3. There are no program changes at all that are 2 weeks or less.
Academic Connections International and Summer Session I and II
Refund Schedules for 2014 Academic Connections International will be available in January 2014. The Refund Schedule for 2014 Summer Session I and II will be available in February 2014.

 

All refund requests must be made in writing to: ipfinancials@ucsd.edu. You will receive a confirmation of your request. Approved refunds will take approximately 4-6 weeks to process. Refunds are issued in the same method of payment (check or charge) of payment, except in the case of bank wire payments. Refunds on payments made by bank wire are issued by check and sent by mail to the person or company that made the original payment. Tuition is not refunded to students who arrive late for the program, who leave because of homesickness, or who are dismissed from the program.
