The following items must be enclosed with your application. All documents must be in English.

  1. Application fee (non-refundable)
    • English Language Programs: $150
    • Academic Connections International: $200
    • University Credit Programs and Summer Session: $200

  2. Copy of passport name-page
  3. Financial verification WITH SPONSOR'S SIGNATURE ON PAGE A4 of the 2013 International Programs Application
  4. Express mail fee, if selected: $50
  5. Bank wire fee, if selected: $25
  6. Copy of Medical Insurance Verification Form (page A2)
  7. Information Release form for those students who have a financial sponsor or who enroll in our program through a university partneship agreement. Please request the Information Release form from ipadmission@ucsd.edu.
  8. On-campus housing application (if desired; summer only)
    • Include the 4-week On-campus Housing Application
    • For On-campus 10-week Program Housing, please request the 10-week on-campus housing application from iphousing@ucsd.edu
    • Full payment must be included with the on-campus housing application to reserve space.
    • If you are attending Summer Session I and II (listed under university credit programs in the courses and programs section of this website), please feel free to use the on-campus housing provided by Summer Session. Click here for details.
  9. For English language programs:
    • Intensive Legal English program: Brief statement to explain previous law-related coursework or work experience and purpose of taking this program, and a language proficiency score of 90 iBT, 8.0 IELTS, or advanced proficiency by ELI tests which are given upon arrival at UC San Diego.
    • TEFL Seminar for Professionals: Professional work resume and brief statement describing your English proficiency
  10. For TEFL Certificate programs:
    • Language proficiency verification
    • Copy of transcripts in English for the two most recent years of academic studies
    • A one-page statement explaining why you would like to take the TEFL Certificate program, TEFL Proficiency, or the Special Studies in TEFL program
  11. For University and Professional Studies (UPS):
    • Language proficiency verification
    • Copy of transcripts in English for the two most recent years of academic studies. These transcripts must clearly indicate excellent academic achievement. Students must be in the top 10% of his/her school.
    • UPS Course List Form listing 12 or more courses per quarter, organized by quarter, you would like to take at UC San Diego or UC San Diego Extension
    • A one-page statement explaining your reasons for choosing UC San Diego for your study abroad experience.
  12. For Summer Session program:
    • Language proficiency verification
    • 2013 International Programs Application
    • 2013 Supplemental Summer Session Application
    • Payment in Full
    • Part-time Summer Session does not qualify for an I-20.
    • Copy of transcripts in English for the two most recent years of academic studies. These transcripts must clearly indicate excellent academic achievement. Students must be in the top 10% of their university.
    • A one-page statement explaining your reasons for choosing UC San Diego for your study abroad experience.
  13. For Business Certificate programs only:
    • Language proficiency verification
    • A recommendation letter on university or company letterhead from a previous employer or professor
    • Copy of transcripts in English for all years of university study--bachelor's degree preferred; minimum two years required. Include grading key or criteria.
    • Resume or curriculum vitae (CV)
    • A 200-word essay describing why you want to take the program
    • All application materials must be received at least five months in advanced before the Business Essentials program start-date and three months in advance for the Business Management program. Please note that the maximum capacity limits for each program are reached many months before the program start-date.
