General International Programs Application Checklist:
1. Application fee (nonrefundable):
    • Certificate Programs: $200
2. Express mail fee, if selected: $50 (optional, but highly recommended)

3. Financial verification WITH SPONSOR'S SIGNATURE ON PAGE A4 (if I-20 is required)

4. Copy of passport namepage

5. Signature in section 6 of page A4 of the application
6. Completed Medical Insurance Verification Form on page A5 of the 2014 International Programs Application (if student does not purchase UC San Diego Medical Insurance)
7. On-campus housing application (if selected; summer only)
    • Include the 4-week On-campus Housing Application. Click here for details
    • For On-campus 10-week Program Housing, please request the 10-week on-campus housing application from iphousing@ucsd.edu
    • Full payment must be included with the on-campus housing application to reserve space.
    • If you are attending Summer Session I and II (listed under university credit programs in the courses and programs section of this website), please feel free to use the on-campus housing provided by Summer Session. Click here for details.

Your program may require that you submit additional documents along with the International Programs Application Form. Please see the additional required documents below that must be submitted for your specific program:

 

Additional Supporting Documents for English Language Programs:
  • Intensive Legal English Program: Please include a brief statement to explain previous law-related coursework or work experience and purpose of taking this program. Students must have an advanced language proficiency level to take this program. Advanced proficiency levels are determined by ELI tests which are given upon arrival at UC San Diego.
  • TEFL Seminar for Professionals: Professional work resume and brief statement describing your English proficiency

 

Additional Supporting Documents for TEFL Certificate Programs:
  • Language proficiency verification
  • Copy of transcripts in English for the two most recent years of academic studies

  • A one-page statement explaining why you would like to take the TEFL Certificate program, TEFL Proficiency, or the Special Studies in TEFL program

 

Additional Supporting Documents for University and Professional Studies (UPS):
  • Language proficiency verification
  • Copy of transcripts in English for the two most recent years of academic studies. These transcripts must clearly indicate excellent academic achievement. Students must be in the top 10% of his/her school.

  • UPS Course List Form listing 12 or more courses per quarter, organized by quarter, you would like to take at UC San Diego or UC San Diego Extension

  • A one-page statement explaining your reasons for choosing UC San Diego for your study abroad experience.
  • Information Release form for those students who have a financial sponsor or who enroll in our program through a university partnership agreement. Please request the Information Release form from ipadmission@ucsd.edu.

 

Additional Supporting Documents for Summer Session:
  • 2014 Summer Session Supplemental Application (available February 2014)
  • Language proficiency verification
  • Copy of transcripts in English for the two most recent years of academic studies. These transcripts must clearly indicate excellent academic achievement. Students must be in the top 10% of his/her school.

  • Payment in Full

  • A one-page statement explaining your reasons for choosing UC San Diego for your study abroad experience.
  • Information Release form for those students who have a financial sponsor or who enroll in our program through a university partnership agreement. Please request the Information Release form from ipadmission@ucsd.edu.

 

Additional Supporting Documents for Business Certificate Programs:
  • A recommendation letter on university or company letterhead from a previous employer or professor

  • Language proficiency verification
  • Copy of transcripts in English for the two most recent years of academic studies for the Business Essentials program. Copy of transcripts for all years of university studies for all other Business Certificate programs. For all other Business Certificate programs a bachelor's degree is required. These transcripts must clearly indicate excellent academic achievement. Students must be in the top 10% of his/her school.

  • Resume or curriculum vitae (CV)

  • A 200-word essay describing why you want to take the program
  • All application materials must be received at least five months in advanced before the Business Essentials program start-date and three months in advance for all other business programs. Please note that the maximum capacity limits for each program are reached many months before the program start-date.

 

Additional Supporting Documents for Academic Connections International (ACI):
  • School transcripts in English. These transcripts must demonstrate excellent academic achievement.

  • Completed English Recommendation Form from secondary school English instructor, attesting to proficiency that is equivalent to the TOEFL internet-based (iBT) 80 or Advanced Cambridge level

  • Shuttle Service, optional housing, and SAT Workshop form for transportation to and from the San Diego International Airport (only), extra housing to accommodate early arrival, and/or for the optional SAT Workshop offered at an extra fee. Note: Please do not submit these two forms until after the student has been officially accepted into the ACI program, and an invoice has been sent.
