Who should take this course?

This program is designed for pre-professionals who have little or no work experience and wish to obtain a basic introduction to American business practices. You need a 530 TOEFL score (or the equivalent) to qualify for this program.


What this course includes:

Approximately 200 hours of classroom instruction and a required volunteer internship combined with guest speakers.

Course topics include the following:
Business Basics
Human Resources
Marketing, Sales & Customer Service
Cultural Negotiation in a Global Environment

Communication and Presentation Skills
Leadership and Team Skills

Project Management
Internship: Students are placed in an unpaid internship at a UCSD department. The campus intersnship schedule is one day per week and involves clerical and administrative tasks



Language Requirements: You must have a TOEFL score of at least 530 paper-based or 71 internet-based (iBT). See requirements.

Time: Mostly days, with one evening class
Location: Most classes are held on or near the La Jolla campus. Access to a car is recommended.
