What this program includes

This program enables non-admitted international students to attend a full-time (12 units) program of regular UCSD or UCSD Extension courses. University-level courses may be applied to a degree program at a U.S. college or university. Students meet with an academic advisor on a regular basis to discuss their progress.

Prerequisites

Applicants must demonstrate an advanced level of English proficiency by submitting one of the following minimum test scores:

550 on TOEFL (paper-based)
213 on the computer-based TOEFL
79 on the iBT
Pass on Advanced Cambridge Exam

Other types of tests are not accepted. After arrival, students must take additional placement tests to confirm advanced English proficiency. Students who score low on the writing test may be required to take a writing class.
