



A bus pass will cost approximately $45 per month and provides unlimited use of the public busses and trollies in San Diego. Some bus routes near campus are free if you have a UC San Diego photo ID card.
Renting a car in San Diego might be your easiest option if you do not plan to live close to campus. You will need a valid driver's license to drive in the U.S.
A bike is a good choice for those planning to live on or near campus. Renting a bike from the UC San Diego bike shop will cost approximately $75 per month, or $100 per quarter. A bike may also be checked out for a maximum of 48 hours for free. The bike shop is located in the Old Student Center on the south side of campus. Click here for more information.
Travel between north county, UC San Diego campus and downtown San Diego using "The Coaster." This is a commuter train operating Monday though Friday (except holidays). For schedules and fare information visit www.sdcommute.com.
During the academic year (not in summer) UCSD offers the following three free shuttle bus services Monday through Friday: Campus Loop Shuttle, Nobel City Shuttle, and Arriba City Shuttle. There are also several year-round shuttles: East/Regents Shuttle, Hillcrest/Campus Shuttle, Hillcrest/Oldtown Transit Center Shuttle, Mesa Housing Shuttle, Scripps Institute of Oceanography Shuttle, and Torrey Pines Center Shuttle.
