Effective January 1st, 2020, the University City Center (UCC) location will require all students, faculty, and guests to register their vehicles online. In order to provide free and accessible parking for everyone at the University City Center (UCC) building, all vehicles will have to be registered online using the link below:

Purchase a Parking Permit
- What is the cost for parking at the La Jolla Campus?

The rate is generally $3 per hour, up to a maximum of $30 per day (during daytime hours) - More Detailed Parking Fees.
Daily/hourly permits are available from the Parking Pay Station machines located in the parking lot or online via the UC San Diego Parking App

- When do I need a permit to park at the La Jolla Campus?

A parking payment is required 7 days a week. If you plan to park, you must display a valid parking permit, pay a parking meter or pay upon exit at our gate-arm facilities during these hours, year-round:
- Main campus — 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., weekdays, 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday
- Scripps Institution of Oceanography — 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., 7 days a week
- UC San Diego Health – Hillcrest — 24 hours/7 days a week
- UC San Diego Health – La Jolla — 24 hours/7 days a week
- No parking fee is required on university holidays
- What spaces can I park in?

Single-use permits from pay stations allow parking privileges in the following spaces:
- S spaces: 24 hours daily. Look for painted yellow squares with a black S on the ground.
- V spaces: 24 hours daily. Look for painted white squares with a black V on the ground.
- B spaces: 24 hours daily. Look for painted green squares with a white B on the ground. Valid in Lot P207 from 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. only.
- A spaces: 4:30 p.m. - 7:30 a.m. daily. Look for painted red squares with a white A on the ground. Not valid where posted "A permit required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."
To park in lots P001 - P010 and Lot P354, you need an access stamp or sticker. Special parking permits are required when parking in the Gilman Parking Structure.

- What if I get a parking ticket?

If you receive a parking ticket, you must respond within 21 days of the issue date.
The adjudication office encourages those who believe they were parked legally at the time a citation was issued to submit a written appeal. Successful appeals clearly demonstrate the citation was issued in error and often includes supporting documentation.
Note: If you have trouble with the online system, you can email your appeal to citation@ucsd.edu or pay a citation by mail with check or money order. The postmark will serve as the payment date.
If you do not pay or appeal your ticket:
- After 21 days the citation is delinquent, the penalty doubles and you lose your option to appeal.
- After 45 days the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) places a hold on the vehicle registration and adds $20 to the doubled penalty.
Several unpaid citations can lead to:
- Five unpaid, delinquent citations: Parking enforcement officers will lock an immobilization boot on your vehicle. You must pay all delinquent parking citations and a $150 boot removal fee within 24 hours to avoid towing.
- 24 hours after the boot: If penalties remain unpaid, a local towing company will tow the vehicle off UCSD property.
- Five citations at the DMV: Any San Diego or UC police officer can tow the vehicle without warning.
- To reclaim your towed vehicle, you must pay towing costs, daily vehicle storage fees and all parking penalties.

- Can I buy a parking pass?

There are a variety of parking permits available for purchase at the UC San Diego Parking & Transportation office located in the Gilman Parking Structure. Permits are no longer sold through UC San Diego Extension.
To purchase a parking permit, you will need a valid driver's license and your vehicle information, including make, model and license plate number. For more information on permits, visit UC San Diego Parking & Transportation.
Extension students may save on parking by purchasing individual single day permits ($4 per day; limit 10 per quarter; purchase and print online ahead of time) or quarterly night/weekend permits ($43 per quarter; purchase online or at the UCSD Parking office) Both of these options are valid in S spots until 4:30 and then A, B, and V after 4:30.
- Is parking safe?

If you are parked at the La Jolla Campus, UC San Diego's Community Service Program can send someone to accompany you while walking to and/or from your car, your evening class or a campus activity. The service is free and available from 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. daily. Escorts are equipped with two-way radios linking them directly to the campus police. For assistance, call (858) 534-HELP (4357) or visit the website.
