American Translators Association Continuing Education Credits

All UCSD Extension Professional Certificate in Translation and Interpretation courses are eligible for ATA Continuing Education points. Additionally, one Continuing Education Point is awarded upon completion of your certificate.

ATA-certified translators must earn 20 points of continuing education credit over each three year period, with a maximum of ten points in any given year, to keep their certification current.  One point is awarded per hour of classroom instruction.  For more information on ATA Continuing Education points:

Judicial Council of California Continuing Education Credits

The following UCSD Extension Professional Certificate in Translation and Interpretation courses have been approved by the Judicial Council Court Interpreters Advisory Panel for 27 hours of Court Interpreter Minimum Continuing Education credit:

Legal Interpretation in Criminal Proceedings  

As stated by the Judicial Council of California, the purpose of continuing education is to ensure that certified court interpreters maintain and improve their interpreting skills and expand their vocabulary in forensic, scientific, drug, slang, and legal terminology.
