Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in the Professional Certificate in Translation and Interpretation (Spanish/English) at UCSD Extension.  It is designed to teach bilingual adults, who may or may not already be working in the field, the requisite knowledge and skills to become successful translators and interpreters.  Graduates of our program go on to own and operate their own translation and interpretation service companies, freelance, work for private companies or work within the public sector.

Obtaining the Professional Certificate in Translation and Interpretation from UCSD Extension sets you apart from the competition.  It certifies to potential employers that you possess the bilingual proficiency, cultural understanding, theoretical knowledge, and skill set they are looking for.

Our program is flexible. It allows you to specialize by professional industry (legal, business, and medical) or remain a generalist with plenty of opportunity to practice and refine your skills.  The program is recognized by the nation’s leading translation association, the American Translator’s Association (ATA), and is an approved provider of continuing education for the Judicial Council of California and the ATA.

The Professional Certificate in Translation and Interpretation (Spanish/English) offers the superior quality adults have come to expect from a UCSD Extension program.  UCSD Extension has an established track record of serving the ongoing educational needs of adults in the greater San Diego area and is widely known as the source for the most current information in a wide range of professions.  Since 1966, UCSD Extension’s professional certificate programs have helped thousands of individuals to qualify for new jobs, justify promotions, or explore new careers.

This website is designed to answer any questions that you may have.  Please refer to the links on the left for additional information.  We also host free information sessions four times a year, and we invite you to join other interested professionals at our next session.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Sincerely,
