To gain a better understanding of the breadth and depth of a field, students may find it helpful to study industries as a whole through a UC San Diego Extension course. Gain insightful perspectives into the specific needs, opportunities and niches of certain fields. Internships & Directed Studies Courses

Have you had trouble getting a job because you don't have the right experience? But you can't get experience without a job? Through a Directed Studies course, students work one-on-one with their instructor as they lead a real project for a local company. These internship-like courses can help bridge the gap between job and experience. Please note course prerequisites may apply.

Net-Work-It! Connections to Professional Associations

UC San Diego Extension works closely with industry professional associations, and encourages students to get involved to complement their professional development. Local organizations typically offer monthly workshops and/or networking, and are a great resource to keep up-to-date on industry trends, issues and best practices.
