What is Six Sigma?

Six Sigma is a series of tools, techniques, and business metrics that represent the best in quality and process improvement -- the minimization of variation and defects from products, processes and services to almost zero. Organizations that have achieved Six Sigma have improved their processes so that they consistently produce no more than 3.4 defects per million opportunities. However, this is more than reducing defects - this is about dramatically improving the bottom line.

Program Description

The Six Sigma Black Belt Course develops understanding and enables employment of one of today's proven approaches to maximizing productivity through control over every process step. Six Sigma drives towards results-based organizational effectiveness through both product and process improvement and increased profitability for its practitioner companies. Six Sigma and its frontline Black Belts can be the source of revolutionary and rapid process improvements leading to dramatic increases in both productivity and profitability, and ultimately to sustained enterprise growth.

Program Objectives

  • To present the essential principles of the Six Sigma improvement methodology to working professionals.
  • To provide participants with the tools and techniques to implement Six Sigma within their own organizations.
  • To facilitate collaboration and communication among practicing Six Sigma organizations and professionals across a broad range of industries.

Who Should Attend?

This Black Belt certification program is appropriate for any team or individual responsible for managing or participating significantly in manufacturing, design or business process activities. Appropriate participants would include managers, professionals and line staff in key functional areas (e.g. product design manufacturing operations, supply chain management, manufacturing and quality engineering, finance and business administration) improvement team or task force leaders and members, as well as individuals who manage and supervise various business, product development and manufacturing operations and/or improvement initiatives. The diverse participant industries provide for cross learning and application of principles as well as identification of Six Sigma best practices.

Represented Industries

  • Computers and Electronics
  • Telecommunications
  • Medical Devices and Pharmaceuticals
  • Fabricated Metal and Machining
  • Plastics and Chemicals
  • Software Development
  • Food and Beverage

Target Participants
