Fundamentals of Clean Technology
Clean technology is an emerging sector with enormous growth potential. It refers to a wide range of products, services and processes that harness renewable energy and materials to create sustainable and secure resources. In the last three years, more than $3 billion in venture capital has been invested in clean tech enterprises. Students will explore clean technologies and the various the sub-categories of the industry–renewable energy (wind, solar, tidal), energy storage, energy infrastructure, alternative fuel, water, recycling & waste–and their different market stage development and market opportunities. You will also learn about the regulatory frameworks at the transnational, federal and state level (e.g. Renewable Portfolio Standard, AB 32, AB 811, Regional Cap & Trade systems, and Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative).
