Learn the basics behind computer hardware design. Topics include: pipelined execution, superscalar execution, the Intel Pentium and Pentium Pro, PowerPC, Motorola G4e, Caching and 64 bit computing. An NXT robot is recommended to demonstrate these concepts but traditional evaluation boards such as the Atmel Dragon board can be used as well. The student will acquire practical acknowledge of hardware design in areas sought after by computer companies.
Note: Prerequisite: "Introduction to Embedded Systems" and some experience with assembly language programming. Fee includes course textbook.
