Mainstreaming the Special Child: Advanced
This course reviews general special education and gifted education concepts, legal issues, professional responsibilities, curriculum design & instructional practices. Participants will explore the importance of establishing working partnerships with families, resource specialists, therapists, psychologists & other school/community personnel that can provide support in the students’ academic achievement. Participants will also examine their own curriculum and instructional models with respect to teaching exceptional students and fostering a strengths-based community of learners.
Note: This course is part of the Clear Credential Program to clear a preliminary teaching credential under SB2042. It fulfills the Advanced Area of Study requirement in Special Populations. Participants must have an application on file prior to enrolling in this course.
