THIS WORKSHOP INTRODUCES TEACHERS TO THE USE OF DIGITAL MEDIA FOR ENGAGING AND ENHANCING STUDENT LEARNING IN THE CLASSROOM THROUGH WRITING. WORKING PRIMARILY IN A MAC-PLATFORM, PARTICIPANTS WILL USE VARIOUS HAND-HELD MOBILE DEVICES (IPADS, IPODS, IPHONES) AND DIGITAL TOOLS TO ACQUIRE STRATEGIES, SKILLS, AND THE RESOURCES NECESSARY TO CHALLENGE STUDENTS TO BE WRITERS AND PRODUCERS OF UNIQUE DIGITAL MEDIA. USING THE CA COMMON CORE STATE STANDARDS, TEACHERS WILL PLAN WRITING ASSIGNMENTS THAT ARE CURRENT AND RELEVANT WHILE PROVIDING A RIGOROUS CURRICULUM THAT FOSTERS CRITICAL THINKING AND ALLOWS ALL STUDENTS, INCLUDING ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS AND RESOURCE POPULATIONS, TO BE CREATORS, COMMUNICATORS, COLLABORATORS, AND WRITERS.
