Learn The Basics Of RF Systems Design Principles
Intended to orient the Engineering student toward Radio Frequency (RF) circuits systems design principles, this course provides a fundamental overview of RF theory, RF systems and hardware architecture and RF design topics.
Basic electromagnetic theory, modulation theory, receivers, transmitters, antennas, transmission lines, system link considerations and hardware design of RF equipment will be discussed in relative depth to prepare the student for more advanced courses in the RF Engineering program with relative ease, also providing the non-RF engineer with basic knowledge of the field.

- Define elements of Electromagnetic propagation in space and impairments.

- Describe the various RF oscillator types and their characteristics
- Show familiarity with the RF Receiver architecture and subsection characteristics
- Show familiarity and perform power budget calculations on RF system links.
Course Typically Offered: Online during Fall and Spring quarter
Prerequisites: Basic knowledge of Electrical Engineering circuits and devices with ability to perform simple circuit analysis. Fundamental knowledge of mathematics (Algebra and basic Calculus) is very helpful.

Tony Babaian, P.E. is state licensed Electrical Engineer. He has 23 years of higher education experience in engineering and mathematics. He has previously worked as an electrical engineer for 14 years in various companies, and is experienced in RF/microwave, avionics system design and integration, power system control and medical electronics. Mr. Babaian is also IEEE San Diego past Chapter Chair for the MTT/AP/ED/SSC/CS societies (2010-2018)
