This course will cover medical terminology from a body systems approach. It will cover root words, suffixes, prefixes, combining vowels and combining forms to build new medical terms. Terms that relate to the body systems, anatomical structures, surgical procedures, disease processes and symptomatic and diagnostic terms will be covered. Accuracy in spelling and pronunciation of medical terms is emphasized. This course is designed from a medical coding perspective and mirrors the body systems of the Anatomy & Physiology class that is also offered as a prerequisite.
