Into the Deep
Sometimes a writer skims on top of a subject. Or dog-paddles around the edges. Or is too nice. The writing is glib and clever and perhaps funny, or the story moves along from plot point to plot point, but the piece is as shallow as a wading pool. This workshop examines what can cause a writer to keep her head above water---from being in a hurry to finish, to not trusting her own voice or fearing what might be discovered or revealed. We will explore techniques for going below the surface of your writing. The course includes examples from the masters and lots of in-workshop writing exercises that invite participants to take a deep breath and dive in.
Note: Open to all writers. Life jackets optional.
