Self-editing for Creative Writers

In today’s competitive markets, editors expect writers to submit copy that is ready to go. But how you can objectively assess your own work? In this workshop, you will analyze the similarities and differences between fiction and nonfiction self-editing, and you will tackle common editing problems. Does your dialogue drag? Have you buried your lead? Omitted crucial exposition? Told a story instead of showing it? Learn to fix these and other common problems to improve the quality of your writing.

Note: This class focuses on content editing rather than copyediting. Bring at least one 3-5 page writing sample for group editing and analysis.
