Community Interpretation
Learn the necessary skills to interpret for non-native speakers wishing to access public services (i.e. legal, health, education, government, and social services). Obtain basic consecutive and simultaneous interpretation techniques through hands-on practice in the classroom. The current job market, professional standards, and employment opportunities for community interpreters are also discussed.
Note: prerequisites: Successful completion of Entrance Exam, "Introduction to Translation and Interpretation", "Consecutive Interpretation", and "Simultaneous Interpretation". Certified or registered interpreters may enroll without completing above prerequisites. Elective for the Professional Certificate in Translation and Interpretation (Spanish/English).
