Feature Writing II

Successful freelance journalists follow time-tested industry practices to get their feature writing published---practices this course covers in detail. From scoping out markets and writing bullet-proof query letters to negotiating favorable terms and appeasing editors, every step of the feature-writing process is addressed through real-world exercises aimed directly at getting your work published. Advanced strategies and techniques include dealing with hostile and “unreachable” sources, the intricacies and abuses of off-the-record and not-for-attribution information, when and how to go under cover, wrangling publicists, the proper fact-checking of material, and much more.

Note: prerequisite: Feature Writing I (WCWP-40122) or equivalent knowledge.
