Introduction to Scientific and Medical Editing

Get a solid introduction to the basics of editing scientific and medical materials and discover a new industry where you can put your skills to use. The topics covered in this online course will be definitions of scientific and medical editing; the publishing process and role of the editor; scientific and medical terminology and nomenclature; correct and preferred usage and jargon; mechanics; abbreviations, acronyms, eponyms, and Greek letters; numbers, numerals, and SI units; and professional development. Specific content to be edited will be exercises from the AMA Manual of Style. This course will benefit students who are seeking entry-level positions in editing scientific and medical materials.

Note: Prior knowledge of medical terminology is essential for this course. You will receive more information on the first day of class.
