Art Battle is an accomplished executive in human resources. He has worked for leading companies as chief human resource officer across a broad array of industries such as financial services, publishing, manufacturing and technology, education, consumer products, professional services, life sciences and healthcare. The majority of his work experiences were with high profile corporations in complex union and non-union environments.
Battle’s expertise spans across a wide range of HR functions, including workforce planning, talent management and compensation. Whether in complex teaching hospital union environments, in publicly traded or private equity portfolio companies with international foot prints or in start-up privately held turn-around situations, Battle has demonstrated exceptional ability to deliver highly effective human resource initiatives that build profitable, growing businesses with employee focus and engaged executive team environments.
Battle recently retired as the vice president and chief human resources officer for San Ysidro Health Center, a federally qualified health center in San Diego. Prior to San Ysidro, he was principal and founder of The Battle Company, a Boston based human resource consulting firm, which focuses on small and mid-market public and privately held companies. His primary focus is on client engagements in compensation, organizational and executive development and human resource advisory services. As a retained consultant of a Boston private equity firm, Battle performed interim human resources consulting services to their North American and International portfolio companies.
Battle earned his Master of Arts in Education Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. He speaks on a variety of human resource practices, and taught human resource seminars at Johnson and Wales in Providence, Rhode Island. He has held corporate board seats for public and private companies.
