Chris Hotz began homebrewing in 2004. He joined San Diego’s QUAFF homebrew club in 2012, and in 2014 he earned a Professional Certificate in Brewing from the University of California San Diego. A Certified BJCP judge, he has judged for GABF and over a hundred competitions. Chris began working at Ballast Point Brewing & Spirits in 2014 as a quality analyst and became an R&D brewer in 2016. He currently brews over 100 new recipes a year taking care of the beers from brewhouse through cellar and packaging. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his beautiful wife, two-year and two daughters.
