Dan Girard teaches Nature Photography: From Vision to Print
for the Photography: Images and Techniques
certificate program. Dan earned his B.S. in Plant Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Arizona State University and works full time in the biotech field here in San Diego doing antibody drug discovery and engineering. After several years of intense self-study in photography, his enthusiastic pursuit of photographic expertise led him to the completion of the Photography: Images and Techniques Certificate at UC San Diego Extension, for which he now teaches. He enjoys printing his work, competes regularly in the Del Mar Fair, and his images have won awards almost every single year since he started competing. Dan is also an avid backpacker and chapter outing leader for Sierra Club and he has been helping teach their annual Wilderness Basics Course for many years. His favorite travel and photographic destinations are the Himalayas, the Patagonian and Peruvian Andes, and he spends a good portion of his summers backpacking locally around the High Sierra.
