Karen is currently the Assessment and Accountability Administrator for Highpoint Virtual Academy, previously serving as the K-5 Principal. Karen also serves as the Coordinator of Curriculum, Assessment, and Peer Mentoring for the Alternate Route to Teacher Certification at Schoolcraft College. In 2014, Karen had the honor of opening a brand new Japanese Immersion school for Livonia Public Schools, Niji-Iro Japanese Immersion Elementary School, and serving as the Principal. Karen has also served as the At Risk Administrator with Ohio Virtual Academy, Curriculum Alignment Specialist with K12, Master Teacher of Curriculum and Instruction for California Virtual Academies, and teacher in brick and mortar schools. As a PhD candidate in curriculum and instruction, she is passionate about helping others educate all students in both the virtual and face-to-face environment.
