Mary Negrete has over 20 years of experience teaching ESL, basic composition and grammar at the community college and university level. She also teaches Spanish to English translation and works as a freelance translator from Spanish to English. Negrete has been teaching in the UC San Diego Extension Translation and Interpretation Certificate programs since 2001. She is an academic coordinator for these programs.

I think that Alma Guillermoprieto says it best: “The best translators slip into the glove of a text and then turn it inside out into another language, and the whole thing comes out looking like a brand-new glove again.”
