Parker Pike has helped over 2,600 marketing, advertising, PR and communications students in the region understand and better use their unique skills and help their career, whether it be as a small business owner, part of a larger business, government agency or social sector organization. His background includes starting three family businesses, 14 years as a marketing consultant and Board of Director positions with Regional organizations including, LEAD San Diego, Inc., SD Blood Bank, American Cancer Society and The SD Nonprofit Association. His high energy classes weave in historical marketing strategies (successes and failures) and the thinking behind marketing execution with many of San Diego's largest events and organizations, including 8 years with the Union-Truibine, two San Diego SuperBowls, City of San Diego, America's Cup, County of San Diego, the area's largest retailer (for-runner to Costco) and the Birch Aquarium as the first marketing director for Scripps in 91 years. His involvement and innovative ideas helped the SD American Marketing Association (as a Past President), The SD Social Innovation Trust, UCSD Extension (as marketing manager), SD Social Venture Partners, the SD Chamber of Purpose. His passion is helping students build their personal "marketing plan" and vet their ideas to fulfill their interests, ideas, skills and purpose. He earned his BA in marketing from the University of Notre Dame and holds an MBA in marketing from Northern Illinois University and MA in Advanced Management from National University, where he also taught BA and MBA marketing classes.
