AutoCAD III: Working Drawings

Learn the process that professional offices go through to create and assemble the components of a set of working documents. The course will focus on the production aspects of assembling a set of construction documents. Participants are expected to have reasonably strong AutoCAD skills. In this advanced-level AutoCAD training course, technical aspects of AutoCAD will be addressed, including file referencing, paper/model space and the relational aspects of drawing files.


Prerequisite: AutoCAD II; or work experience with instructor approval

Software: Autodesk AutoCAD software* (download instructions will be provided by instructor on the first day of class).

*Autodesk recently updated their software accessibility for students:

  • Students enrolled in the CAD/BIM Certificate program will have free access to the student software.
  • Students enrolled in individual courses will not have free access. Those students will need to sign up for a free trial or purchase the software.


Please Note:

  • Students must be enrolled at least one day before the course start date, due to the enrollment process and the short duration of the course. 
  • This course is administered through the Virtual Design & Construction Institute's (VDCI) online portal: ucsdextension.matrixlms.com.
  • The same textbook will be used throughout all AutoCAD courses.
