Board and Volunteer Management

Nonprofits rely on volunteers to accomplish the mission, so effective utilization and management of those relationships is key. Creating meaningful and useful roles for volunteers within your organization, and providing the structure and support for them to be successful can amplify the impact of the organization in many ways. You will learn how to build a strong structure for volunteerism within your organization, determine who you need on your board, what their responsibilities and roles are, as well as your role as staff, and very importantly, how to maximize those relationships.   

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

• Identify opportunities for volunteers that will be beneficial to the organization and the volunteer
• Understand the responsibilities and roles of board members
• Understand the responsibilities and roles of staff in relation to volunteers
• Create a structure of volunteer management that advances the mission of the organization

Note: Although you can take any course in any order we recommend you start from the required course Introduction to Fundraising and Development. If you are not interested in pursuing the Professional Certificate in Fundraising and Development you can enroll in any single class.
