CISSP Security Exam Preparation

NOTE - due to coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns, our Spring '20 section will be 100% online

This four-week, online and classroom, hybrid course is a cost effective option to boot camps for the CISSP candidate, as the pass rate has been high for students in this program. ISC has moved from ten to eight Domains and some modernized content has been added to the exam. This course is an updated collection of slides and audio, video, internet-based resources, and instructor-led curricula designed to support those professionals under pressure to get their certs. The fast-paced sessions requires the student to maintain self-discipline to sustain a rigorous study regimen. Lesser experienced CISSP candidates unfamiliar with the Domain topics or those requiring additional guidance should first consult with the instructor before committing to this course. This course is taught by a CISSP certified instructor, who is current in DoD systems architectures and cybersecurity engineering. This course does not include the CISSP exam managed by ISC2.

Topics Include:

  • Domain 1 Security & Risk Management

  • Domain 2 Asset Security

  • Domain 3 Security Engineering

  • Domain 4 Communications & Network Security

  • Domain 5 Identity & Access Management

  • Domain 6 Security Assessment & Testing

  • Domain 7 Security Operations

  • Domain 8 Security in the Software Development Life Cycle

Practical Experience:

  • Understand the 8 Security Domains (formerly 10 Common Bodies of Knowledge)

  • Become a contributing member of at least one CISSP user forum

  • Utilize a proven, but unique prepping method devised by the instructor

  • Use a quantifiable set of exhaustive exams that measure the student’s readiness to take the ISC2 sponsored CISSP exam

Course Notes:
This hybrid course includes online and traditional classroom instruction. Students will utilize the online learning tool called Blackboard over the course of 4 weeks. Then the last two days of class will take place in a traditional classroom setting.

ISC2 Exam Requirements:
ISC2 requires the successful CISSP candidate to have 5 years of cumulative paid full-time work experience in two or more of the 8 Domains.

Student Testimonial:

I took the CISSP preparation course taught by Gene Anderson back in January/February of this year. I can say without a doubt the course was instrumental in passing the exam on my first attempt.  There is a huge amount of material and I had spent the month of December trying to study on my own and felt that while I was getting through the material, it was not necessarily able to be recalled correctly.  Gene's course takes an aggressive but fair pace, and he encourages communication between students to help gauge how each student is learning the material.  There are weekly check-ins with practice exams, and Gene supplements the recommended materials with a tremendous amount of additional information available at no cost.
The live meetings were a pleasure, as he taught our class about encryption and then let us know that the following day, we'd be teaching him.  I not only was able to teach the lesson back to Gene the following day, but a week later I taught it to my wife, and I feel that I could teach it now, four months later.
I took the exam two days after the final live meeting and was able to pass the exam.  I can honestly say that had I kept at the self-pace I had been using, it would have been several months before I would have tested and I would not have been as well prepared.  Even after the test, Gene has stayed in touch, and I contacted him recently to let him know that I had mentioned his name in a Secret clearance check that my new employer has submitted, which would not have been possible without obtaining my CISSP."
