Contemporary Art 101

This class examines major themes and practices of visual art produced since the 1960’s.

Looking at such key movements as Pop, Minimalism, Feminism and Conceptualism, explore the profusion of artistic production and content into the current century. We will consider ways in which contemporary artists look to past traditions of practice, and invent new ways of making meaning in the work they produce. Discussions and lectures will be complemented by field trips in this 8th course of our 9-part Art History series.
