Career Technical Education credentials, like the Vocational Education credentials, can be used to teach in any vocational, trade, or technical class at any grade level. The Preliminary Designated Subjects CTE Teaching Credential authorizes the holder to teach in the subject or subjects named on the credential in grades twelve and below and in classes organized primarily for adults, in career technical, trade or vocational courses.
The Preliminary Special Subjects Teaching Credential authorizes the holder to teach the subject named on the credential in grades K-12 inclusive, and classes organized primarily for adults.
Adult Education programs are comprised of classes primarily organized for adults. School districts within California are always looking for qualified instructors to teach in their Adult Education programs. They are seeking individuals with diverse backgrounds who will guarantee adult learners the possibility to develop their unique potential.
The Preliminary Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential authorizes the holder to teach the subjects named on the credential in courses organized primarily for adults.
Contact your current or prospective sponsor for the Designated Subjects credential. Only a program that has been approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) can recommend individuals for Designated Subjects teaching credentials.
