We work closely with the Department of Education Studies at UC San Diego (EDS) in developing a wide array of courses, certificates, and state-approved credentials designed to prepare individuals and educators for reflective practice in increasingly diverse classrooms, focusing on issues of equity and excellence. The Education Department also collaborates with other campus entities to provide cutting-edge programming to practitioners worldwide. Additional information on obtaining an Advanced Degree in the Education Field or earning your initial teaching credential is available through our EDS partner. The Department has developed high-quality online programming to provide exceptional educational opportunities to students everywhere. Through the flexibility of distance learning, we’re able to broaden the diversity of our educational approach. Distance learning is defined as delivery of instruction beyond strictly face-to-face contact with an instructor. Within the Department of Education, we incorporate a variety of instructional methods that include videotaped/televised lessons, e-conferencing (e-mail, chats, collaborative on-line labs, etc.), phone conferencing, among others. All departmental offerings include opportunities for meaningful interaction with an instructor, with exception of courses offered through the Professional Development Institute (PDI).
