GIS III: Geodatabase Design
As with all types of data, without a way to organize large sets of geographic or spatial data, it can become increasingly difficult to extract useful information from the data. A geodatabase offers a reliable way to create an organized collection of geographic datasets.
In this course, you will continue to expand your knowledge of geographic information systems by focusing on the creation and design of databases. You will learn how to create a database by integrating spatial data from varied sources for use in GIS, as well as explore metadata and the ESRI Geodatabase format.

Course typically offered: Online in Fall and Spring
Software: Students will use ArcGIS by ESRI in this course; the instructor will provide license information on the start date of the course and there is no additional cost. A computer with a native Windows operating system is required to run ArcGIS; the software will not work properly on a Mac computer, even if you have configured your system to dual-boot or otherwise run Windows.
Prerequisites: Completion of GIS II: Spatial Analysis required.
