Monthly HR Leadership Events at UC San Diego Extension
Join us for a series of free and distinctive monthly events to connect and engage with San Diego’s dynamic HR community.
Each event is unique. Each month, we announce a new event and open the registration for that particular event. While COVID-19 keeps us from meeting in-person, online events are being offered. Once we can resume our group gatherings, events will be held at UCSD Extension’s off campus building or will be hosted by companies throughout San Diego known for their innovation and success.
HR leaders and experts in their fields openly present their best practices, visionary ideas, practical solutions to challenges, and insight-provoking learning lessons. Discussions are candid and stimulating. Participants acquire key takeaways that can be immediately applied to their daily work and careers.
While there is no cost to attend, these events are limited to guests who are HR VPs, Directors, Managers, developing HR professionals aspiring to be in corporate HR roles, and participants/alumni of the UCSD HR Certificate and Leadership Programs.

Program Brief: Disruptive factors including COVID, remote work, social justice, and economic uncertainty are rapidly changing the destiny of work. At the same time, the Generation Y “Millennials” and Generation Z “Zoomers” will soon surpass half of the U.S. workforce. Any astute employer today will look to build a recruitment and retention campaign around their specific needs. The good news is that these are the most studied and researched generations in history, and we know what they want: diversity, equity, and inclusion; corporate social responsibility; environmentalism; work-life balance and flexibility; and career guidance and professional development.
How do we stay ahead of the curve? All frontline operational leaders need to develop their internal coaching skills and strengthen their “EQ” abilities to build the type of workplace culture that develops people and, in turn, helps the organization thrive. Join us on June 30th as we discuss how to:
- Reinvent your interview questioning strategies to pierce the hearts as well as minds of job candidates.
- Implement a 90-day onboarding program to begin the professional development paradigm and foster an achievement mentality.

Our Speaker: Paul Falcone (www.PaulFalconeHR.com) is currently the CHRO of the Motion Picture and Television Fund in Los Angeles, which is a 2021 Academy Award (Oscar) winner. Paul is the former head of HR for Nickelodeon, the former head of international HR for Paramount Pictures, and he’s also worked in healthcare/biotech and financial services. He is a bestselling author of a number of HarperCollins Leadership, American Management Association, and SHRM books. Paul is also regular contributor to SHRM’s HR Magazine and HR Daily Newsletter and a lecturer at UCLA and UCSD Extension.
