This competency-based program trains participants to be Lactation Specialist, as well as fulfill the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative requirements (BFHI), Step 2.
Participants will obtain the most up-to-date information in the lactation field. A comprehensive overview of basics skills is incorporated in the training along with the most current information and recommendations for consistency in practice.
Day 3 of the training focuses on demonstrating Competencies in Breastfeeding Care. Participants will get to practice many of the necessary skills they need when working with breastfeeding families.
Subjects covered: Understanding the Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative, Guilt and Support, Hazards of Not Breastfeeding, Contraindications, Support and Barriers, Anatomy, Physiology and hormones, Infant instincts and organization, Positioning and Latch, Getting Enough breast milk, Common Concerns, Jaundice
Management,Supplementation, Breast Pumps and Equipment, and Lactation as a profession.

Other Credits: 2 CE units in Reproductive Medicine BRN: 20 CE hrs. BRN does not award partial credits.
