This course focuses on using play therapy with children with relational-based problems, specifically social anxiety and being bullied. Emphasis will be placed on recognizing symptoms of social anxiety (as opposed to social phobia or generalized anxiety) and differentiating bullying from single episodes of harm; learning play therapy techniques that target the primary symptoms of these diagnoses. Adjunctive resources and concrete methods for working with care givers and school personnel in a manner that addresses the systemic causes will also be explored.
