Understanding Photographic Light: Studio & Location

Lighting is an essential part of every photographic genre. This fundamental lighting class will introduce students to light qualities and characteristics through observing, controlling and capturing it. Lighting ratios and the Inverse Square Law, as it applies to photographic light, will be discussed and utilized in class assignments. Students will learn how to be creative with light and how to use it to express intentional mood and style in their photography. The course content is directed for students who have successfully completed Photo I: Aperture, Shutter Speed & ISO and who want to learn more about light and its role within photography.

Prerequisite: Photo I: Aperture, Shutter Speed, & ISO (ART-40629) or equivalent experience.
Materials/Software/Hardware: Fully adjustable DSLR camera or prosumer camera. Image editing software
Note: Elective for Photography: Images and Techniques professional certificate.
