We're please to reveal the winner of our July #MyExtensionStory contest! To encourage our students (past and present) to take the next step, we offered those who have shared their Extension stories with us the chance to win a free class voucher. Thank you for your inspiring submissions -- we love celebrating our students and hearing about how their time at UC San Diego Extension has changed their lives for the better.
Our congratulations go out to Candace Thomas of Salt Lake City, UT, who submitted some helpful advice after taking the Creative Writing certificate program at UCSD Extension:
“As my career as a fantasy author started to take off, I grew insecure in my talent and began questioning my own creativity. I wanted to understand more about the mechanics of creative writing in order to expand my ideas and knowledge of the craft. The Creative Writing certificate has done that. I now feel comfortable in my writer skin and seek to help those who have the same passion in writing as I do.”
Thank you to everyone for the responses. We are proud of your achievements and excited to celebrate your success as you make your way through your learning journeys.
Here are a few other selections from those who were brave enough to share their stories:
Regulatory Affairs Medical Device certificate graduate Prateek Tripathi offers: “The experience with UCSD Extension is merely extraordinary. Completing the certificate was an unforgettable journey. The mentors/instructors, class colleagues and even the support staff were excellent. Upon completion, I felt more confident, knowledgeable and more vital in the team (my current role). Instead of sitting idle, can be a part of the conversation and plan proactively. Furthermore, the cherry on top is the connections built across the spectrum, be it connections from different organizations and instructors, which help when a challenge arises, or I need advice.”
Manuel Cortez notes, “A quarter before finishing my undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science with a specialization in Machine Learning, I thought to myself: how can I become a more competitive candidate to employers. After looking at the resources UCSD had to offer, I obtained a certification in Business Intelligence Analysis. Despite the difficult times, I managed to secure a job as a program coordinator.”
