Come together (right now) — over STEAM

By Morgan Appel, director of UC San Diego Extension's Education Department

In collaboration with the Division of Biological Sciences at UC San Diego, the Education Department at UC San Diego Extension is hosting a brainstorming session for P-12 schools and senior administrators and faculty across UC San Diego around issues related to the system-wide STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Initiative. STEAM provides a unique opportunity for P-12 practitioners and postsecondary faculty to examine innovative collaborative strategies to teach reciprocally and reflectively within and across disciplines.

This session, to be held at the Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club on December 3, will serve as the basis for ongoing and more holistic efforts across sectors of education, designed to best meet the needs of local schools and teachers. If you are interested in a summary of notes taken at the meeting, please feel free to contact Morgan Appel at mappel@ucsd.edu.
