The inaugural San Diego Career Summit + Job Fair, co-presented by UC San Diego Extension and UC San Diego Alumni, will be held Wednesday, June 18, at UC San Diego Price Center West, 8:30 am to 2:30 pm.
An ideal venue for those seeking employment or thinking about a career shift, the event will feature a keynote presentation by hiring expert Phil Blair, author of “Job Won,” an insightful guide to what employers seek when they make hiring decisions.
Blair, co-founder and chief executive officer of Manpower San Diego, will speak from 9 am to 10 am.
Next up, from 10:15 to 11 am, an entrepreneur panel of UC San Diego alumni will share their stories on how they launched their own businesses.
The next panel, titled “The Brewing Industry and Its Impact on the San Diego Economy,” will include Peter Zien, owner of Alesmith Brewing Company; and Ryan Lamb, co-founder of West Coaster, a monthly print/online magazine that covers the Southern California brewery industry.
Panel moderator will be Omar Passons, a public use attorney and craft beer advocate. Samples of Ballast Point beer will be available for attendees after the event.
A recruiter’s roundtable discussion will also take place with recruiters from prominent San Diego companies that represent a variety of industries.
In addition, the job fair with 30 to 40 local and regional companies seeking to hire employees at all levels, will be held concurrently from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm.
Admission, which includes complimentary breakfast and parking, is $25. A discount rate of $20 is available through June 6.
