The Silica in Construction Awareness course provides training on respirable crystalline silica (RCS) exposure during construction activities. This course will identify the health hazards associated with exposure, some of the common construction materials and tasks that could result in exposure, and typical control measures used to protect workers including engineering controls, work practices and respiratory protection.
Additionally, the course includes a description of the requirements of the OSHA RCS standard (e.g. exposure limits, housekeeping, personal hygiene, written exposure control plan, medical surveillance, training and recordkeeping). The role of the competent person and the importance of the exposure control plan will also be discussed.
