Renée Yarmy has fifteen years of experience in architecture, sustainable development and climate action planning. She currently serves as the program manager for energy and sustainability at the San Diego Unified Port District. She manages strategic initiatives in the areas of energy efficiency, renewable energy deployment, sustainable development practices and the overall management and monitoring of the District’s Climate Action Plan (CAP) and Green Port Program. She has experience in sustainable development, architecture, climate action planning and environmental planning.

Prior to joining the District, Yarmy served as a consultant to the District, the Port of Long Beach, the Port of Seattle and several federal, local and international government agencies. In these capacities, she developed a proven expertise in coordinating and managing sustainability, energy management, asset management and outreach programs. She has served on the board of directors for the American Planning Association – San Diego Section since 2010 and is responsible for educating professional planners on environmental and land use planning policies and emerging regulations. Yarmy has an established track record developing policies, guidance documents and implementation tools to meet agency-specific sustainability, climate planning, and outreach goals and objectives.

She holds a master's in sustainable development from UNSW Australia, a bachelor's in architecture from California State Polytechnic University-Pomona and is a LEED AP O+M.
