Eliminating Jim Crow Discipline in K-12 Educational Contexts provides educators with practical professional learning to identify disproportionate disciplinary outcomes in k-12 contexts and the institutional policies that causes race-based disproportionality. This course explores the origins of race-based discrimination in education and school disciplinary outcomes as well as school-based and legislative efforts to eliminate disproportional exclusionary discipline. This course will explore effective examination of school discipline data, school counseling practices, and restorative justice as ways to address disproportionality in school-based discipline outcomes. The course will also examine leadership practices that increase the likelihood that all students have equal opportunities to be successful in k-12 educational contexts.
Note: This course is part of the 3-course series "Learning and Justice for All Institute".
