This culminating course of the Reading and Literacy Added Authorization is a Fieldwork course in which candidates will complete 45 hours of documented work in an educational setting that includes opportunities to deliver balanced, comprehensive, and reflective reading and language arts instruction, while working with the support and collaboration of a site based or local mentor.

This course is part of the following California Commission on Teacher Credentialing program(s): Reading Instruction

Note: This is a required course for California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC) - Reading and Literacy Added Authorization*. The prerequisites for this course are EDUC 80012, EDUC 31415, EDUC 31416, and EDUC 31417.

It is recommended that this course be taken either concurrently with EDUC 31418, or after completion of the Portfolio course. 

*This course is only required for candidates with a teaching credential who want to be issued a Reading and Literacy Added Authorization. It is not required for candidates who are only obtaining a UCSD Extension Certificate.

You must register for this course with the Letter Grade Option. If you do not then you will need to retake the course at your own expense with the Letter Grade in order to be eligible for a Reading & Literacy Added Authorization.
