Featured Speaker: Joellyn Zollman, Ph.D.
This lecture compares Jewish settlement in Los Angeles and San Diego. After considering southern California as a region in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, we’ll focus on San Diego’s Jewish life. We will look at pioneer Jewish settlement and activities and the factors that contributed to the slow but steady growth of the community across the twentieth century, including the weather, the military, and the establishment of UCSD.
