Featured Speaker: Professor Brookie Best
The processes by which a drug is absorbed, distributed, metabolized and eliminated by the body are complex, and vary from individual to individual in addition to varying with concurrent conditions, medications and diseases. Utilizing as examples her research and experience in perinatal and pediatric pharmacology, Dr. Best will discuss how the optimal dosages of medications are determined for a given disorder and individual.
Presenter Biography
Brookie Best earned a B.S. in Chemistry at UC San Diego and a Pharm.D. at UC San Francisco. Her research includes 20 years of designing and conducting pediatric and obstetric pharmacokinetic clinical trials, including the study of maternal and fetal pediatric clinical pharmacology. She is a professor of clinical pharmacy and pediatrics at the Skags School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Science at UCSD, which graduates some 70 doctors of pharmacy annually.
